The Inspiration of Practicing Attorney Mark Miller The Will My Pet.com Pet Guardianship papers were the inspiration of practicing attorney, Mark Miller. Mark has been assisted numerous clients and has practiced law in the areas of Estate Planning, Real Estate and Corporate Law for over 20 years. Through his work, of helping many families with their estate planning, wills and trusts, Mark learned first hand the different estate planning techniques that could help parents, children and families feel more secure. During the course of his of this work, Mark studied Pet Trusts and soon came to realize that the limited number of states that authorize such trusts have varied statutory requirements. These varied requirements make drafting a Pet Trust time consuming and often very expensive. For many clients with accumulated wealth and expensive animals, the Pet Trusts can often be worth while. However, this expense presented a barrier for most people wanting to care their loved pets. Based upon this quandary, this was something Mark decided to fix. How to care for our beloved pets, even though we do not want to spend hundreds or possibly even thousands of dollars to prepare and fund the traditional Pet Trust? This is how that the Pet Guardianship Documents were created. Having worked with many families and attorneys, assisting with estate planning and estate administration upon a family members death, Mark realized that a loved one’s last requests, if properly and clearly stated, are usually honored by the families that love them. Why not then utilize this 20 years of experience to assist people to clearly and properly name a guardian for their loved treasured pet and do it all for a reasonable fee that families could afford. This was the inspiration for Will My Pet.com. Mark and his family have had numerous furry friends of their own. Charlie Brown the apricot Cocker-Poodle mix was his first pet. After many ours of talking, begging and convincing, Mark convinced his Mom that every boy needs a dog. He was a wonderful companion to Mark through college. Since then, Mark and his family have had many dogs, cats, hamsters, fish and birds. Now, the future of your families family’s pets can be provided for, just as like Mark's are, with the designation of a Pet Guardian. Community Involvement Mark, in addition to practicing law, has volunteered his time to many local charities, including Kiwanis (past local president), the Community Foundation (past local president and trustee), schools, and volunteer efforts such as assisting young mothers and children, rebuilding housing, community festivals and community development. He encourages all pet owners to get involved and help make their community a better place to live. |
